Dangerous Night

Night is a dangerous time of the day.

I am reborn in darkness
From the protective cocoon of daylight.

As the twilight shines through the window,
I break out of my shell,
Never looking back
And always looking forward,
Night is protection enough for me.

It embraces me and enfolds me,
With its sweet caress I crave.
I rejoice in my freedom,
And I dance with careless abandon,
Until daylight creeps into my life.

Then I say farewell to the night,
With silent tears and terrible longing
My soul is locked away once more,
And my memory cease to remember
The sweet freedom I shared with the night.
